Mycelium is the vegetative part of a fungus and looks like a (white) root like structure. We used mycelium in combination with a 3D printer to create shapes without the use of moulds, or waste material. The first steps of this new production technique where shown to the world during the Dutch Design Week 2017 in Eindhoven.
My main task was developing a 3D printing system to deposit liquid mycelium and additives on a dry substrate and testing this system. The system will be used for further research at the Industrial Design Engineering faculty at the TU Delft.
